Provided is a linear motor armature, the assembly accuracy of which is hardly affected even when the dimension error caused by stacking the magnetic pole teeth is large and the assembly workability of which is excellent, and also provided is a linear motor. An armature (3) used for a mover of a linear motor (1) includes a plurality of magnetic pole teeth (31) around which coils (32) are wound and which are aligned and arranged along a driving direction, and has a tubular linking member (33) for linking each of the magnetic pole teeth (31). The magnetic pole teeth (31) have york portions (31b) provided on the opposite side of a plane facing a stator (2) so as to abut other adjacent magnetic pole teeth (31), the york portions (31b) being each provided with, as an engaging portion (31a), a groove extending in a direction perpendicular to both the direction of the plane facing the stator (2) and the driving direction. The linking member (33) makes close contact with the wall surface of the engaging portion (31a) of each of the magnetic pole teeth (31).
