Abstract:
Disclosed is a linear motor which can reduce cogging without the length in the movement direction of an armature becoming lengthy. The linear motor is provided with: a field unit (5) wherein a plurality of permanent magnets are arranged in a straight line such that the north and south poles are alternately formed; and an armature (10) comprising a core (14) having a plurality of teeth (14a) facing the field unit (5) across a gap, and a plurality of coils (16) wound around the plurality of teeth (14a) in the core (14). Among the plurality of teeth (14a) having the coils (16) wound thereupon, and with regard to the teeth located at both ends in the relative movement direction of the armature (10), the width (TW1) in the relative movement direction of the one tooth (14a-1) is less, from a base section (18) to a tip section (19) thereof, than the width (TW2) in the relative movement direction of the other tooth (14a-2).
