Abstract:
Provided is a lip-type shaft sealing device that is capable of preventing damage to a second lip which is retained by a backup ring, this lip-type shaft sealing device 1 seals an annular gap between a shaft 2 and a housing 3 that rotate relatively, by means of a first lip 4 which is on a machine inner side L and the second lip 7 which is on an atmosphere side A and is retained by a backup ring 8, wherein the backup ring 8 comprises a base part 81 that retains the second lip 7, an inner diameter tip part 83, and a curved part 82 that is arranged between the inner diameter tip part 83 and the base part 81.
