Abstract:
A liquid crystal alignment agent containing component (A) and component (B) below. The definitions of symbols in formulas (1) through (3) are as described in the specification. Component (A): a polyamic acid obtained by reacting a tetracarboxylic dianhydride component containing a tetracarboxylic dianhydride containing an aromatic structure with a diamine component containing at least one type of diamine selected from paraphenylene diamine and a diamine having any of (1) through (3) in the structure thereof. Component (B): an alkoxysilane compound having at a terminal end thereof a group selected from the group consisting of an epoxy group, a vinyl group, a styryl group, a methacrylic group, an acrylic group, a ureide group, a mercapto group, and an isocyanate group.
