Abstract:
The present invention relates to: a liquid crystal alignment agent containing an organic solvent and a polymer obtained from a diamine having a structure represented by formula (1) below; a liquid crystal alignment film; and a liquid crystal display device. In formula (1), X is a single bond or a divalent organic group, Y and Z are each independently a divalent organic group including alkylene, R1 and R2 are each independently a monovalent organic group, R3 is a C1-4 alkyl group, and m and n are each independently an integer of 0-4. According to the present invention, a substrate having a liquid crystal alignment film, which is for a lateral electric field driven liquid crystal display device, is imparted with highly efficient alignment control capability, and has excellent burn-in properties; a lateral electric field driven liquid crystal display device having the substrate; and a compound for imparting the same may be provided. More specifically, a novel diamine capable of improving reliability without influencing orientation when added in small amounts may be provided.
