Abstract:
Provided are: a liquid-crystal composition which has a large value of refractive-index anisotropy (Δn), exceedingly low viscosity, excellent low-temperature storage stability, and a negative value of dielectric anisotropy (Δɛ); a liquid-crystal display element employing the liquid-crystal composition; and a liquid-crystal display equipped with the liquid-crystal display element.
The liquid-crystal composition, which has a negative value of dielectric anisotropy (Δɛ), comprises one or more compounds represented by general formula (i) and one or more compounds represented by general formula (ii). Ri1 and Ri2 each independently represent a C2-8 alkenyl group; Rii1 and Rii2 each independently represent an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, etc.; and Xii1 to Xii6 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-8 alkyl group, etc.
