Abstract:
A liquid crystal composition containing a liquid crystal compound and an optically active compound represented by general formula (1) having high HTP, the liquid crystal composition showing a good cholesteric liquid crystal phase in an oriented state (in the formula, K1 and K2 each independently show a benzene ring, cyclohexane ring, or cyclohexene ring, and one or more carbon atoms among the carbon atoms that constitute each ring may be substituted by nitrogen atoms; X1-X12 each independently show a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, or alkyl group, alkynyl group, alkenyl group, or alkyloxy group having 1-12 carbon atoms; and CH2 groups in each group may each independently be substituted by O, S, OCO, COO, OCOO, CO, or a phenylene group).
