Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL DIFFRACTION ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/071217
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The problem addressed by the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal diffraction element that can convert zero-order light into polarized light different from incident light. To solve the problem, the present invention includes an optically anisotropic layer having a liquid crystal orientation pattern in which the orientation of an optical axes varies while continuously rotating along one direction in a plane, wherein, when an optical microscope is used to observe a principal surface of the optically anisotropic layer under cross-Nicol observation, a certain dark line is selected that is thicker than dark lines located adjacent to this dark line on opposite sides, and 80 dark lines are selected using the selected certain dark line as the first, each even-numbered dark line has a smaller width than an adjacent odd-numbered dark line.
