Abstract:
Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device (1A) equipped with a liquid crystal panel (20) that is disposed on the front surface of the main device body, a light-admitting window that is disposed on the back surface of the main device body, reflecting plates (12) that are disposed between the liquid crystal panel (20) and the light-admitting window, and an illumination unit that is disposed between the liquid crystal panel (20) and the reflecting plates (12). The illumination unit is provided with a plurality of LEDs (31) that are arranged in an array, and the light emitted from said plurality of LEDs (31) shines upon the liquid crystal panel (20) from the back surface side. The reflecting plates (12) each have a reflecting surface on one main surface thereof and are rotatably attached to the main device body. Light admitted by the light-admitting window is guided to the illumination unit by reflecting off the reflecting surfaces of the reflecting plates (12), and subsequently shines upon the liquid crystal panel (20) from the back surface side. As a result of this configuration, the power consumption of the liquid crystal display device can be reduced by increasing the efficiency of outside light use.
