Abstract:
Provided are a liquid crystal display device and a driving method therefor that can prevent a reduction in display quality by suppressing the occurrence of flicker in AC driving. In a first frame period, the period is shortened so that the area of a "positive effective region" and the area of a "negative effective region" become largely equal, and overshoot driving is thereby carried out. The length of the first frame period is a period that is at least 1/4 of one frame period when the refresh rate is 60Hz, and is less than such one frame. Due to this configuration, it becomes possible to suppress a sudden drop in luminance immediately after switching polarity or to adjust so that luminance doesn't become excessively high due to overshoot driving, and as a result, flicker caused by flexoelectric polarization that occurs during AC driving is suppressed.
