Abstract:
Provided is a liquid crystal display device with various display modes that use a polyimide alignment film. The liquid crystal display device prevents a reduction in VHR, is able to prevent burn-in of the display screen due to residual DC voltage, and is able to obtain a good alignment state. Also provided is a method for producing the same. The liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal molecules is sandwiched between a pair of substrates, and has an alignment film on the liquid crystal layer side of at least one of the pair of substrates. The alignment film contains polyamic acid or a polyimide with an imidization rate of less than 100%, and the liquid crystal display device has a monomolecular film on the alignment film.
