Abstract:
This IPS type liquid crystal display device using an optical alignment film and negative liquid crystal suppresses the occurrence of luminescent spots by performing a predetermined temperature cycle. This display device comprises: a first substrate including gate lines, data lines, pixel electrodes, common electrodes and an optical alignment film; a second substrate including an optical alignment film; a liquid crystal layer including negative liquid crystal molecules; and a spacer for maintaining a uniform gap between the two substrates, the first and second substrates being formed such that a change ratio, which represents the ratio of the amount of change to a reference height in the spacer, is greater than 6.25%, where the reference height represents the original height of the spacer before the first and second substrates are bonded to each other, and the amount of change represents the difference between the reference height and a height of the spacer after the first and second substrates are pushed together to be bonded to each other.
