Abstract:
Provided is a liquid crystal display device which is capable of exhibiting good display performance. This liquid crystal display device is obtained by sequentially arranging a liquid crystal panel, which comprises a liquid crystal cell and a polarizing plate, and a backlight unit, which comprises a light source, in this order; and the polarizing plate sequentially comprises, from the backlight unit side, a protective film, a shock absorbing layer and a polarizer. The shock absorbing layer has the maximum value of tanδ within the frequency range of from 1.0 × 10-1 Hz to 1.0 × 1015 Hz at 25°C; and the maximum value of tanδ is from 0.1 to 2.0 (inclusive).
