Abstract:
A liquid crystal display device is provided with a first substrate and a second substrate which are arranged to face each other, and a liquid crystal layer arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate. A plurality of pixels, each of which having a transmitting region for transmitting light from the first substrate side and a reflecting region for reflecting light from the second substrate side by the first substrate, are arranged, and a transparent layer is arranged in each reflecting region so as to reduce the thickness of the liquid crystal layer in each reflecting region to be smaller than the thickness of the liquid crystal layer in each transmitting region. On the liquid crystal layer side of the first substrate, a groove section is formed between the pixels.
