Abstract:
A liquid crystal panel (2) is equipped with a first translucent substrate (21) on which a TFT is formed, a second translucent substrate (22), and a liquid crystal layer (23) interposed therebetween. An illumination device is disposed on the first translucent substrate side of the liquid crystal panel. When viewed along the normal direction of the primary surfaces of the first and second translucent substrates, a portion of the first translucent substrate protrudes beyond the second translucent substrate and a portion of the second translucent substrate protrudes beyond the first translucent substrate. The portion of the second translucent substrate which protrudes beyond the first translucent substrate is supported by a support part (41). Thus, it is possible to reduce display defects generated when pressure is applied to the display screen by a finger or the like.
