Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/078173
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is an MVA liquid crystal display device (LCD (100A)) in which four domains having directions, in which liquid crystal molecules tilt, different from each other by about 90°are formed, said MVA liquid crystal display device comprising a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix with rows and columns, each pixel being a horizontally elongated pixel which is longer in the row direction than in the column direction, and each pixel including two first electrodes (21a, 21b) disposed on both sides along the row direction. Preferably, at least one of the two first electrodes (21a, 21b) has a first corner portion including a first edge parallel to the row direction and a second edge parallel to the column direction, and a first substrate comprises an electrode layer (16c) overlapping with part of the first edge and/or the second edge of the first corner portion. Consequently, a reduction in display quality caused by the alignment disorder of liquid crystal molecules in the vicinity of the edge of a pixel electrode can be suppressed.
