Abstract:
Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device comprising image pixels which include the three sub-pixels red (R), green (G) and blue (B). One substrate is provided with scanning lines (11), signal lines (12), auxiliary capacitance bus lines (13), thin-film transistors (14) connected to said scanning lines and said signal lines, respectively, and image pixel electrodes connected to said thin-film transistors. A scanning line (11) and image pixel electrode form a gate-drain capacitance (Cgd), and among the plurality of image pixel electrodes arranged inside one image pixel, the gate-drain capacitance (Cdg) formed by the image pixel electrode having the larger image pixel capacitance is larger than the gate-drain capacitance (Cdg) formed by the image pixel electrode having the smaller image pixel capacitance. For each image pixel electrode arranged corresponding with a monochromatic sub-pixel, the overlapping surface area of the scanning line (11) and the image pixel electrode is formed such that it increases at first in accordance with the progression direction of the signal on the scanning line (11) and the ratio of the increase is decreased, and the above mentioned increase ratio differs for each of the image pixel electrodes with different image pixel capacities. According to the liquid crystal display device herein described, in a liquid crystal panel wherein a Cgd gradation process is performed, scorching does not tend to occur even if the image pixel capacities between sub-pixels differ.
