Abstract:
The present invention provides a horizontal electric field type liquid crystal display device which can prevent display color unevenness from being generated. This liquid crystal display device is provided with a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate has a light transmitting first shield electrode, a supporting substrate, a light blocking layer, and a colored layer, and the second substrate has a common electrode and a pixel electrode. The first shield electrode is disposed outside of the supporting substrate when viewed with the liquid crystal layer at the center. Furthermore, the liquid crystal display device is provided with a first control circuit that applies positive potential to the first shield electrode.
