Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/132726
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a high efficiency, high precision liquid crystal display device wherein the amount of quantum dot phosphors used is reduced and the thickness of the liquid crystal display device as a whole is made thinner by constituting a white light source using phosphors formed from microparticle type quantum dots and LED light emitting elements, and making light from the light source be incident from one side surface of a backlight disposed on the back surface of the liquid crystal display device. Phosphors formed from quantum dots with a particle size of 50 nm or less are sealed in phosphor layers (311, 312). Light radiated by an LED light source (320) is incident to the phosphor layers (311, 312). At this time, the spectrum of the incident light is converted by the phosphors. The light with the converted spectrum is made incident to a backlight light guide plate (314), scattered inside the backlight light guide plate (314), and irradiates a liquid crystal panel (210). As a result, a high precision color image is displayed on a liquid crystal display panel (200).
