Abstract:
To provide a technique whereby flicker and other display defects can be suppressed without restricting the arrangement of data lines in a liquid crystal display device having a non-rectangular display region. The liquid crystal display device is provided with an active matrix substrate 10, an opposing substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The active matrix substrate 10 is provided with a plurality of gate lines 11 and a plurality of data lines 12. Pixel electrodes 14 are disposed in pixels defined by the gate lines 11 and the data lines 12, and a shared electrode 15 is provided in a display region R. A capacitance formation part C for forming a capacitance between the shared electrode and a portion of the gate lines 11 from among the plurality of gate lines 11 is provided on an outside of the display region R. The portion of the gate lines 11 have a smaller length than that of a largest gate line and intersect with a portion of the data lines 12 from among the plurality of data lines 12. At least one capacitance formation part C is provided for one gate line 11 of the portion of the gate lines 11.
