Abstract:
A liquid crystal display according to one embodiment of this invention comprises: a first substrate and a second substrate, each having a display region and a peripheral region around the display region; a sealing material which adheres the first substrate and the second substrate in the peripheral regions thereof; a first alignment film provided to the first substrate; a second alignment film provided to the second substrate; a liquid crystal layer between the first alignment film and the second alignment film; and a plurality of protrusions which protrude from the second substrate towards the first substrate. The plurality of protrusions include first protrusions which overlap with the sealing material in plan view, and second protrusions positioned in the display region. The width at the tip of the first protrusions is smaller than the width at the tip of the second protrusions, and is less than 10 µm.
