Abstract:

Provided is a liquid crystal display element wherein a picture element electrode (30) and a common electrode (36) are arranged and sub picture elements (22) have different intervals (a first interval (d1) and a second interval (d2)) between the picture element electrode (30) and the common electrode (36). In the low gray scale region, display is performed by means of first sub picture elements (22a), i.e., the sub picture elements (22) with the small intervals, in the middle gray scale region, display is performed by means of second sub picture elements (22b), i.e., the sub picture elements (22) with the large intervals, and in the high gray scale region, display is performed by means of the first sub picture elements (22a) and the second sub picture elements (22b).
