[Problem] The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display element having high transmittance and excellent high-speed responsiveness by improving liquid crystal fall time while suppressing an increase in drive voltage, suppressing a decrease in birefringence index, and improving transmittance, and further to provide a manufacturing method for this liquid crystal display element. [Solution] The present invention provides a polymerizable liquid crystal composition containing a liquid crystal composition, a polymerizable compound expressed by general formula (i), a polymerizable compound other than the polymerizable compound expressed by general formula (i) as needed and a photopolymerization initiator as needed, and also provides a liquid crystal display element using this composition and a manufacturing method for this element.
