This liquid crystal display panel (10A) is provided with a first λ/4 retardation layer (31), a first substrate (13), a color filter layer (14) and a liquid crystal layer (17) that contains horizontally aligned liquid crystals. This liquid crystal display panel (10A) is also provided with a second λ/4 retardation layer (32), which is configured from a material that is different from the material of the first λ/4 retardation layer (31), between the first substrate (13) and the color filter layer (14), or between the color filter layer (14) and the liquid crystal layer (17). The thickness of a region of the second λ/4 retardation layer (32) overlapping a blue color filter (14B) is thinner than the thickness of another region of the second λ/4 retardation layer (32) overlapping a green color filter (14G); and if Rout(λ) is the retardation of the first λ/4 retardation layer (31) with respect to light having a wavelength of λ nm and Rin(λ) is the retardation of the second λ/4 retardation layer (32) with respect to light having a wavelength of λ nm, formula (1) is satisfied in regions overlapping the blue color filter (14B). -1.0 nm < Rin(450) - Rout(450) < 10.0 nm (1)
