Disclosed is a liquid crystal display panel having high contrast and exhibiting reduced display defects. The liquid crystal display panel comprises a pair of opposing substrates (1, 2) and a liquid crystal layer (3) intercalated between the pair of substrates (1, 2), wherein a pair of opposing alignment films (4, 5) are respectively formed on the pair of substrates (1, 2), polymerized films (6, 7) produced from a monomer contained in the liquid crystal layer (3) are respectively formed on the pair of alignment films (4, 5), a polymeric compound having at least one functional group selected from those represented by general formulae (1) to (5) is contained in each of the alignment films (4, 5), a polymerizable monomer represented by at least one of general formulae (6) to (8) is contained in the liquid crystal layer (3), and each of the polymerized films (6, 7) is produced from a polymerizable monomer represented by at least one of general formulae (6) to (8) and is bound to at least one functional group selected from those represented by general formulae (1) to (5).
