Abstract:
This liquid crystal lens 1 is provided with: a first electrode 2 which comprises a first electrode part 14 having a circular opening 14a and a second electrode part 15 arranged inside the opening 14a; a second electrode 4 which faces the first electrode 2; a liquid crystal layer 7 which is arranged between the first electrode 2 and the second electrode 4; and power supplies 16-18 which apply an alternating voltage to the first electrode 2 and the second electrode 4. The power supplies 16-18 are composed of: a first power supply 16 that applies a voltage having a first rectangular wave to the fist electrode part 14; a second power supply 17 that applies a voltage having a second rectangular wave, which has the same phase as the first rectangular wave of the first power supply 16, to the second electrode part 15; and a third power supply 18 that applies a voltage having a third rectangular wave, which has a phase that is different from the phase of the first rectangular wave and the second rectangular wave by 180°, to the second electrode 4.
