Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal optical element capable of varying optical characteristics using a liquid crystal, specifically a liquid crystal Fresnel lens, and more specifically a high-quality liquid crystal Fresnel lens that can be obtained by a simple method. Provided are a liquid crystal alignment film comprising oriented molecules, and a liquid crystal optical element including the liquid crystal alignment film. When the oriented molecules are located at a predetermined distance away from a predetermined point in the liquid crystal alignment film, the alignment direction of the oriented molecules creates a certain angle according to the distance relative to a straight line parallel to the plane formed by the liquid crystal alignment film.
