Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to configure a liquid discharge device and a moisture retaining device for a liquid discharge head so as to improve the moisture retaining properties by reducing dirt on a seal member for closing the sections of contact between the liquid discharge head and a cap which covers the nozzle surface of the liquid discharge head. The liquid discharge device of one embodiment of the present invention is provided with: a cap (200) which faces the nozzle surface (72A) of a liquid discharge head (72) and which covers the nozzle surface (72A); and seal members (220, 222) which seal the portions of contact between the liquid discharge head (72) and the cap (200). The seal members (220, 222) seal positions higher than the nozzle surface (72A) while the cap (200) covers the nozzle surface (72A) while being in contact with the liquid discharge head (72) with the seal members (220, 222) located therebetween.
