Abstract:
A liquid drop ejector capable of detecting a missing dot (loss of a pixel) actually in a formed image and capable of performing not a conventional sequential recovery processing but an appropriate recovery processing depending on the cause of abnormal ejection when a missing dot miss is detected by specifying the cause of abnormal ejection. The liquid drop ejector comprises a plurality of liquid ejection heads, a means (10) for detecting abnormal ejection of a liquid drop from the nozzle, and a means (24) performing recovery processing for eliminating the cause of abnormal ejection of liquid drop. When the liquid ejection head is ejecting a liquid drop toward a liquid drop receiving material, the abnormal ejection detecting means (10) detects abnormal ejecting operation for each liquid drop being ejected from the nozzle and interrupts ejection of a liquid drop toward a liquid drop receiving material if abnormal ejection is detected, and a recovery means (24) performs recovery processing depending on the cause of abnormal ejection.
