Disclosed in the present invention are a liquid preservative for a printing paste, and a preparation method and application thereof. The liquid preservative of the present invention comprises a solid preservative, an adjuvant, and water, the weight ratio of the solid preservative to the adjuvant to water is 4-5: 3-4: 1-2. The adjuvant is a mixture of polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerol, isohexadecane, and polyether modified silicone, and the weight percentages of the polyethylene glycol, the propylene glycol, the glycerol, the isohexadecane, and the polyether modified silicone are 30%-40%, 10%-20%, 20%-30%, 10%-20%, and 3%-5%, respectively. Further provided in the present invention is a preparation method of the liquid preservative. The liquid preservative is obtained by means of adding the solid preservative and the adjuvant to water and mixing uniformly, and is used in a sodium alginate printing paste. The components of the liquid preservative of the present invention have very good synergistic effect, homogeneous composition and good dispersibility, reducing the dust and agglomeration phenomena during mixing, and the liquid preservative can be used in a fewer amount and has good preservative effect.
