Disclosed is a liquid receiver which can improve the reliability and durability of a compressor, and can continuously stably circulate a constantly optimum amount of refrigeration oil through a compressor, even when refrigerant-refrigeration oil compatibility is poor. Also disclosed is a refrigeration circuit provided with the liquid receiver. In the liquid receiver, which is provided to a refrigeration circuit having a compressor, the refrigerant, which has been subjected to gas/liquid separation, is separated into two layers: a mixed refrigerant/refrigeration oil layer that includes more refrigeration oil, and a mixed refrigerant/refrigeration oil layer that includes more refrigerant. The liquid receiver is further provided with: a discharge pipe which extends upwards, the upper end of which can be moved up and down and the lower end of which is joined to a refrigerant outlet located at the bottom of the receiver; a float which is attached to the upper end of the discharge pipe; and through-holes connecting the interior and exterior of the discharge pipe, which are located at the top and the bottom of the discharge pipe at positions corresponding to the two abovementioned layers.
