Abstract:
This lithium ion battery is provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode and an electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution contains a lithium salt. The positive electrode and the negative electrode are in contact with the electrolyte solution. The positive electrode contains a positive electrode active material, an accelerator, a conductive material and a binder. The lithium ions which are present in the electrolyte solution are intercalated into the positive electrode active material. The accelerator is dispersed together with the positive electrode active material, and is chemically reacted with anions which are present in the electrolyte solution. The conductive material is present between the dispersed positive electrode active material and the dispersed accelerator. The binder binds the positive electrode active material, the accelerator and the conductive material with each other. The chemical reaction between the accelerator and the anions which are present in the electrolyte solution is more likely to occur than the intercalation of the lithium ions, which are present in the electrolyte solution, into the positive electrode active material.
