Abstract:
A lithium ion secondary battery comprising a positive electrode, a separator, a negative electrode and an exterior body, wherein the negative electrode comprises metal silicon as a negative electrode active material and a negative electrode binder and is doped with lithium, and wherein values Ma, Mc and MLi fulfill the requirement represented by formulae (1) and (2): (1) 1.2 ≤ Ma/Mc ≤ 1.9 and (2) 1.0 < Ma/(Mc+MLi) < 1.6, wherein Ma (the number of atoms) represents the amount of lithium to be inserted into the negative electrode before the potential of the negative electrode with respect to metal lithium reaches 0.02 V, Mc (the number of atoms) represents the amount of lithium to be released from the positive electrode before the potential of the positive electrode with respect to metal lithium reaches 4.3 V, and MLi (the number of atoms) represents the amount of lithium doped into the negative electrode.
