Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a lithium ion secondary battery which has achieved higher capacity and high safety at the same time by using an oxide material that contains Li and Fe as a negative electrode active material.
A lithium ion secondary battery of the present invention uses, as a negative electrode active material, a material which has a mixed phase of LiFeO2 and LiFe5O8 and wherein the value calculated as the ratio of the height of a peak assigned to the (200) plane of LiFeO2 to the height of a peak assigned to the (311) plane of LiFe5O8 as determined by an X-ray diffraction method is from 0.18 to 20.4.
