Abstract:
Provided is a lithium-ion secondary cell with which it is possible to maintain a high level of safety even when there is an increase in temperature. The lithium-ion secondary cell 100 is provided with: positive electrodes 11; negative electrodes 12; separators 13; a non-aqueous electrolyte 14; and a PTC layer provided between a positive electrode mixture layer and a positive electrode collector and/or between a negative electrode mixture layer and a negative electrode collector, the PTC layer having a positive resistance temperature coefficient. The PTC layer includes non-conductive filler particles, and has an electron resistance that is at least 100 times greater at 120°C than at room temperature. In an arbitrary cross-section crossing the PTC layer, the thickness t of the PTC layer and the median equivalent circle diameter D50_f obtained from the cross-section area of the filler particles have the relationship 0.7t ≤ D50_f. The average value h of the height of the portions at which the filler particles project from the surface of the PTC layer and the volumetric median diameter D50_k of pores in the mixture layer adjacent to the PTC layer have the relationship h ≤ D50_k.
