Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lithium secondary battery, and the lithium secondary battery contains, as a cathode active material, a ternary compound containing nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), manganese (Mn), and the like, and also, contains small amounts of an iron phosphate compound and a silicon-based oxide in outermost shells of mixture layers, adjacent to a separator, of a cathode and an anode, respectively, leading to excellent energy density of the battery and relatively low electric conductivity of the surfaces of the cathode and the anode, and thus can lower the amount of short-circuit current at the time of an internal short-circuit of the secondary battery, thereby improving safety due to the internal short-circuit of the secondary battery.
