Abstract:
A living body observation system having: a light source unit that supplies, as illumination light to illuminate an observation area including living body tissue, a first illumination light being either visible range infrared light or near infrared light and a second illumination light being light having a different visible range from the first illumination light; a light detection unit that receives return light emitted from the observation area and outputs an output signal; a signal processing unit that outputs a frequency spectrum signal indicating a frequency spectrum obtained after frequency-analysis of the return light emitted from the observation area in accordance with irradiation by the first illumination light; an image generation unit that generates an intensity image on the basis of the output signal and generates a frequency spectrum image on the basis of the frequency spectrum signal; and a display control unit that uses the intensity image and the frequency spectrum image and generates and displays an observation image for the observation area.
