Title:
LOADING ESPECIALLY METALLIC OR METAL-CERAMIC TECHNICAL SURFACES WITH A FLUORO-ORGANIC COMPOUND
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO1999054060
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to the loading of especially metallic or metal-ceramic technical surfaces with a fluoro-organic compound. According to the invention, a hydrocarbon rest which has been partly fluorinated or chlorofluorinated is selectively attached to surface imperfections by a polar or dipolar group. This markedly improves surface properties, especially wearing and resistance properties. For example, sliding and rolling friction are lowered significantly. The invention is suitable for all sliding and rolling surfaces of machine parts, especially in motor vehicles. A preferred area of application is the loading of engine cylinder faces made of a light metal such as an aluminium alloy. Other applications include the loading of working and functional surfaces of mechanical deformation tools, the loading of metal-containing surfaces of optical disks and the use of the fluoro-organic compound in plasma coating methods.
