Title:
LOCATING AN OBJECT USING GPS WITH ADDITIONAL DATA
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2002001157
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method for tracking an object using GPS and additional data. The number of satellites (400) is determined. It is determined whether the number of satellites is compared to three (402). If it is more than three (404), the calculation is made based on the satellites only; if is equal to three (408), the calculation is made using the model of the surface; if it is less than three (430), calculation is made using additional resources, e.g. a representation of the surface that the object is travelling on, an accurate clock, an odometer, dead reckoning information, pseudolite information, and error correction information from a differential reference receiver. The location of the object is then transmitted to a GPS receiver.
