Abstract:
A lock that has the strength to sufficiently perform the function of a practical lock, a three-dimensional shape and pattern on the outer surface and a designed and ornamented external appearance, which lock is suited for being mass-produced to provide locks having different three-dimensional shapes and patterns on their outer surfaces, the production cost being low; and a method of producing the same. Locks produced by fitting on an existing lock a cladding having a three-dimensional shape and pattern on its outer surface. A lock wherein the shackles of the existing lock projects outside through the cladding having a three-dimensional shape and pattern on its outer surface and the keyhole of the existing lock is exposed through the cladding. A method of producing locks characterized by comprising the steps of forming a split container having a three-dimensional shape and pattern on its outer surface and having first and second clearances, and sealing the body of an existing metal lock in the split container in such a manner that the shackle of the existing metal lock projects through the first clearance to the outside of the split container and the keyhole of the existing metal lock is exposed through the second clearance to the outside of the split container.
