Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a lock-up device and a torque converter that are capable of reducing torque converter hiss caused by friction between a damper spring and a clutch piston, and of improving engine torque fluctuation damping properties. [Solution] A torque converter (100) comprising a lock-up device (200) that couples: a torque converter cover (101) that rotates integrally with a pump impeller (102); and a turbine runner (103) connected to an output shaft (104). The lock-up device (200) comprises: a damper spring (203) inside a clutch piston (201) in contact with or separated from the torque converter cover (101); and an intermediate member (210) inside said damper spring (203). The center of the damper spring (203) juts out towards the inside in the radial direction in the clutch piston (201), as a result of a coupling member (220) and damper pressing sections (205, 213) provided in both end sections of the damper spring (203), and is pressed against a jutting out section (213) in an intermediate member (220).
