Abstract:
Tongs (10,110, 210) including a pair of elongated arms (20, 30, 120, 130, 220, 230) coupled together to move between a generally compressed configuration (C) and a generally expanded configuration (E). The tongs further include a locking mechanism (50, 150, 250) having a frame (80, 180, 280), a lock member (60, 160, 260) and a spring (152, 252) to bias the lock member (60, 160, 260) away from the frame (80, 180, 280). The lock member (60, 160, 260) being movably coupled to the frame (80, 180, 280) to move between a first position in which the lock member allows movement of the arms to the expanded configuration (E) and a second position in which the lock member prevents movement of the arms beyond an intermediate configuration (I) between the expanded (E) and compressed (C) configurations.
