Abstract:
A lockup clutch control device for a vehicle, which, when used in a vehicle having an
engine with an exhaust turbocharger and a fluid power transmission device as
the power transmission device, prevents an occurrence of surging of the exhaust turbocharger
when an lockup clutch of the fluid power transmission device is engaged. When
lockup conditions of the lockup clutch, which is used to lockup the fluid power
transmission device connected to the engine (1) having the exhaust turbocharger,
are established, the lockup clutch control device performs operation for reducing
an engine speed target value for a predetermined time prior to the lockup. This
prevents an occurrence of surging caused by a reduction in the engine speed in
the lockup. The lockup clutch control device (50) has timer means (51) for setting
a time in which operation for reducing the engine speed target value is performed
and also has second timer means (52) for setting a standby time for starting the
lockup.
