Abstract:
A lockup device (7) in which a piston is connected to a front cover and which increases a lockup operation responsiveness in reverse driving. The lockup device (7) is used for a torque converter (1) having the front cover (2) in which a torque is inputted, an impeller (3) fixed to the front cover (2) and forming a fluid chamber filled with a working fluid, and a turbine (4) disposed in the fluid chamber oppositely to the impeller (3), and comprises the piston (22). The piston (22) is disposed so as to divide a space between the front cover (2) and the turbine (4) into a front cover side first hydraulic chamber (36) and a turbine side second hydraulic chamber (37), and can be connected to and disconnected from the front cover (2) by a differential pressure between the first and second hydraulic chambers (36) and (37). The piston (22) is formed of a plate-like member, and comprises a plurality of projected parts (41) extending from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side on the first hydraulic chamber side surface (42). The projected parts (41) comprise linear front sides (51) and rear sides (52) in the rotating direction and arc-shaped outer peripheral sides (53) and inner peripheral sides (54). The rear sides (52) in the rotating direction are aligned with a straight line (Ls) connecting an inner peripheral end (52a) to the center of rotation (O), or the rear sides (52) in the rotating direction are tilted so that the outer peripheral end (52b) is positioned on the rear side of the straight line (Ls) in the rotating direction.
