Abstract:
A long life rotating body with an excellent fatigue strength and a method of manufacturing the rotating body, the rotating body formed by welding the end parts of stacked two sheets of sheet metal to each other comprising lap fillet welded joints, cold bending worked parts, and punched holes, characterized in that an ultrasonic shock treatment is applied to either of the welded joints, cold bending worked parts, and punched holes to form dents or smoothen the surfaces thereof so as to relieve a residual tensile stress, whereby the long life rotating body with the excellent fatigue strength formed of the sheet metal having the lap fillet welded joints, cold bending worked parts, and punched holes which is subjected to repeated loads by rotation such as road wheels for car, pulleys, gears, and crawler driving wheels can be provided.
