Abstract:
A long-lived induction-hardened bearing steel capable of producing bearing parts excellent in rolling fatigue resistance at a low cost. The steel contains on a weight basis 0.45-0.7 % C, 0.05-1.7 % Si, 0.35-2 % Mn, 0.001-0.03 % S, 0.01-0.07 % Al, 0.003-0.015 % N, 0.0005-0.03 % T.Mg, optionally 0.05-1.2 % Mo, optionally a specified amount of at least one member selected from among Cr, Ni, V, Nb and B, at most 0.025 % P, at most 0.004 % Ti, and at most 0.002 % T.O, and has a magnesium oxide particle content of 0.8 or above.
