Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a long member capable of suitably transmitting movability from a proximal-end side to a distal-end side of an engaging part in a groove part provided to a bending mechanism, thus enabling a bending operation to be smoothly performed and enabling suitable deformation in accordance with the shape of a biological organ, etc. [Solution] The long member has an operating member for bending the long member (10) or deforming the long member (10) into a straight line, and a bending mechanism (20) provided with at least a guide part (15) in which a groove part (30) is formed, an engaging part (40) capable of engaging with the groove part, and a support part (18) for supporting the engaging part so that the engaging part can move relative to the guide part, and a gap g is formed between the guide part and the engaging part for allowing the engaging part to move within the groove part.
