Abstract:
Address information 200 inputted into a geocoding unit 10 is converted into a tree structure hierarchically structured in administrative districts. Address tree information with which latitude and longitude information is associated is generated in at least the node of the lowest layer of each branch of the tree structure. The generated address tree information is stored in a memory 14 that can be accessed at high speed, thus advancing searching while narrowing the scope of the search by following the address tree information in order from parent node to child node. It is thereby possible to efficiently search for latitude and longitude information corresponding to an address from given address information, and perform a search more quickly than in the prior art, in which a conversion table stored in a disk is accessed.
