Abstract:
The present invention relates to a low hydrogen shielded metal arc welding rod that has a core covered by a coating agent and is characterized in that the coating agent contains, in percent by mass of total mass, 6.0% or more of an ore that includes an SiO2 component at 90% or more by mass, 30 – 60% of a metal carbonate, 5.0 – 20% of a metal fluoride, and 5.0 – 20% of rutile, with particles of a particle size less than 53 µm in the ore being less than 25% by mass of the total mass of the ore. With the present invention, arc cutoff is suppressed and welding can be performed inexpensively particularly when using an alternating current power supply.
