Title:
LOW TEMPERATURE BOILING COOLING SYSTEM IN WHICH A CONDENSER IS LOCATED BELOW OR AT A LATERAL SIDE OF AN EVAPORATOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/012270
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a low temperature boiling cooling system in which a condenser is located below or at a lateral side of an evaporator in a cooling system that removes, by means of the principle of evaporation and condensation of a refrigerant (water and liquefied gas containing a Freon refrigerant), heat generated by, for example, a refrigerating system (including an absorption-type refrigerating system) including a refrigerator/air conditioner, from a condenser of a generator, from an electric power facility including a transformer, from a machine device which is cooled by fluid circulation, or from a computer system/computer room which is cooled by fluid circulation. Conventional technologies for removing heat from a cooling system that uses a heat exchanger are water cooling methods in which water within the heat exchanger is forcibly circulated using a water pump. Recently, a method for boiling and then naturally circulating a refrigerant or liquefied gas that boils at a low temperature has been developed to replace water cooling systems and has been applied to certain devices. More particularly, the applicant of the present invention has proposed, in Korean Patent Application No. 10-2011-0048210 ("Natural Circulation Cooling System Using Low Temperature Boiling Water"), a cooling system which uses the principle that water boils at low temperatures when under low pressure. However, said inventions are intended to circulate the refrigerant condensed by a condenser by means of natural circulation due to gravity, and therefore are subject to the limitation that the condenser must be located above a heat exchanger for a boiler which serves as an evaporator. The key feature of the present invention is the elimination of the limitation placed on the installation location of a condenser by enabling the condenser to be located below or at a side surface of an evaporator, thus enabling the condenser and the evaporator to be at similar heights. The refrigerant (water and liquefied gas containing a Freon refrigerant) condensed in the condenser is extracted by a pump so as to prevent an internal space of the condenser from being filled with a liquid refrigerant, thus enabling the condenser to continuously perform the functions thereof. Therefore, the condenser may be located at the lateral surface of the evaporator, or may use natural coolness and warmth by being placed underground or submerged in river or sea water, thus not only avoiding limitations on installation space which would require the condenser to be always installed above the evaporator but also utilizing natural coolness and warmth in a cooling operation, thereby significantly improving cooling efficiency of the cooling system.
